Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups raw walnuts
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Spread the walnuts in a single layer on a cookie sheet and bake for 5 to 8 minutes. Set aside.
  3. Lay a sheet of parchment paper on the counter or a tray.
  4. Add the sugar to a sauce pot and cook over medium heat, stirring with a wooden spoon, until the sugar is fully melted and amber in color.
  5. Turn off the heat and quickly add the walnuts, stirring to coat them thoroughly.
  6. Remove the nuts right away and spread them in a single layer on the parchment paper.
  7. Use a fork to separate any nuts that stick together. Do not touch them with your fingers since the hot sugar can burn.
  8. Let cool for at least 30 minutes before using.

Notes

Store cooled nuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
